Terms and Conditions
GB Stamp Auctions is owned and operated by Ian Lasok-Smith (Philatelist) PTS
Regular online auction listings will appear on this site. GBStampAuctions.co.uk.
Items will be listed to run for varying times from 7 - 60 days. Items may also have a "make an offer" option. See below.
My standards with regards to condition of material are rigorous:
MINT STAMPS: All stamps are in fine unmounted mint fault free condition with full perforations unless specifically stated otherwise. For unmounted mint items generic images may be used. Any apparent defect/blemish apparent on the images unless described can be assumed to be artefact.
USED STAMPS: All used stamps will be fault free (no creases,thins etc) unless described otherwise. All used items for sale will be illustrated with actual item for sale. There are no generic images for used items.
COVERS: Covers will be in fine fresh condition free of creases,tears etc. All covers will be illustrated with actual item for sale.
All cylinder blocks will be the format as listed in Stanley Gibbons Specialised Catalogues or larger. Generic images may be used but will be an accurate representation of item for sale. I "grade" cylinder blocks according to how they have been removed from sheet. All blocks are unmounted mint including margins unless stated otherwise. All blocks have all perforations intact (no separation).
Grade A. Imperforate margins are angled (not cut back or cut square) and both margins on block must be angled if both are imperforate. Perforated margins are separated along perforations. May be illustrated with generic image.
Grade B. If any imperforate margins cut square (not cut back) and perforated margins separated along perforations. May be illustrated with generic image.
Grade C. A block with any margin cut back. Only very scarce blocks will be offered in this condition and illustrated with actual item for sale
DECIMAL ISSUES.The accepted standard for decimal cylinder blocks is for any imperforate margin to be angled (not cut back or cut square). This standard came about at the advent of the decimal Machin issues and was set and expected by specialist dealers and collectors. All decimal cylinder blocks offered will have imperforate margins angled and therefore generic images may be used.
PREDECIMAL ISSUES. Prior to the more rigorous "standards" expected, mentioned above it was the "norm" for cylinder blocks to have imperforate margins cut or torn square. Cylinder blocks from the predecimal era with imperforate margins angled are relatively scarcer than those with margins cut or torn square (especially if both margins were imperforate). As a consequence cylinder blocks with angled margins will command a premium.
Booklet panes with full perforations on all sides may be illustrated with generic images and description will state full perforations. Booklet panes with trimmed perforations on any sides will be illustrated with actual item for sale and description will state "perfs as illustrated"
The site has the facility for public questions to be asked about any item. If you have any doubts / concerns or need clarification about any item please use the question facility or email email@example.com.
Items sold with the following recognised certificates of authenticity, "RPSL", "BPA" and "David Brandon" will not be accepted as returns after 30 days unless I have been notified that buyer wishes to seek further certification. As with all items I sell certificated items may be returned within 30 days on my "no quibble" refund basis so long as received back in original condition.
If a buyer wishes to obtain their own certificate on items purchased through my websites they must inform me of this within 30 days of receipt of item. I will not refund items several months after purchase if I have not been so informed. The buyer will be liable for the cost of certificates.
The site operates a system of PROXY bidding. What ever bid amount you enter, if you should be the highest bidder you will only pay 1 increment above the 2nd highest bid.
For example: If an item is listed and has a reserve of £15 and there are 3 bidders.
Bidder A at £20 Bidder B at £60 and Bidder C at £25.50
Bidder B will be the winning bidder at £26.50
The 2nd highest bid being £25.50 and increments between £20 and £50 being £1.
Under proxy bidding, the price paid is determined only by competitors' bids and not by the amount of the new bid, and so there is no economic incentive to place a bid below the amount one is willing to pay, or to place multiple increasing bids. An "economically rational" bidder will therefore bid the maximum amount they are willing to pay on their first bid, and never raise their bid.
BUYERS PREMIUM. There is NO buyers premium. Successful bidders pay only the value of winning bid plus applicable postage charge selected at checkout.
MAKE AN OFFER. A feature of this auction site is the option for bidders/buyers to make an offer at any time during the duration of a listing to purchase before auction ends. Offers must exceed the initial listing price or the current highest bid. Any such offers made and accepted will end the listing.
Unlike many sites bidders are able to retract bids up until 24 hours before close of auction. After this time it will be expected that bidders will honour any winning bid placed.
|Price Range||Bid Increment|
|0 - £5||£0.10|
|£5 - £10||£0.20|
|£10 - £20||£0.50|
|£20 - £50||£1.00|
|£50 - £100||£2.50|
|£100 - £200||£5.00|
